A spokesperson from automotive group Stellantis has shared that the company has informed unions and local officials of its plan to end operations at its manual gearbox production site in Vienna-Aspern, Austria, reports Reuters.

It was stated that the carmaker will engage in discussions on how to support the 300 employees at the gearbox plant.

The development comes as demand for traditional manual gearboxes is weakening due to an industry trend towards electric cars.
