Vienna will host the EPMA’s Hard Materials short

course in 2014.

The two-day course will begin with an overview of hard materials (HSS to diamond) and a history of hardmetals. Subsequent sessions will include raw material sources, manufacturing routes for raw materials, shaping, sintering and finishing amongst others.

“The course will provide an excellent learning opportunity for engineers and scientists with an interest in hardmetals,” states the EPMA. “Moreover, the unique combination of high level industrial specialists and academics from across Europe will provide unrivalled insights into the practical capabilities and applications of hard materials.”

At the end of the short course an open forum will discuss case studies and problem solving with a panel of international hard materials experts.
