Euro PM2018 Congress: Plenary session speakers announced

 

Two invited plenary presentations at the opening plenary session of the Euro PM2018 Congress and Exhibition, October 14-18, 2018, will consider new opportunities for Powder Metallurgy and the future of the automotive supply industry.

Following an official opening and welcome to the Basque Country from Iñigo Urkullu Renteríe, President of the Basque Government, Borja Arenaza Latorre, Director of Advanced Manufacturing, Sisteplant, Spain, will present, “The Smart Factory: Real opportunities applied to Powder Metallurgy.”

This presentation will discuss the basic Smart Factory concepts, the necessary resources and application examples. A brief exercise will demonstrate the potential implementation of such concepts to conventional PM processes for structural parts.

This is followed by a presentation by Sigrid de Vries, Secretary General of the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA), who will speak on the subject of “The Future of the Automotive Supply Industry’.

The EPMA states that this thought-provoking presentation looks to explain the state of the automotive industry and what future threats and opportunities may lie ahead for the automotive PM supply chain sector.

The plenary session will also follow the presentation of the following 2018 EPMA Awards

  • Keynote Paper Awards (sponsored by the journal Powder Metallurgy) Taylor & Francis Group
  • PM Component Awards
  • Fellowship Awards
  • Distinguished Service Award
