GKN Sinter Metals Danyang has been presented with the ‘Best Technical Cooperation’ Award at the Schaeffler Greater China Supplier Conference 2014. The company was the only Powder Metallurgy (PM) component supplier to receive the award.

Schaeffler is one of the largest manufacturers of Variable Cam Timing (VCT) products in Chinese market.  After first investing in the country in 1995, Schaeffler China achieved £1 billion sales in 2013 and is expected to continue its strong growth in the next 10 years.

GKN Danyang delivered more than three million VCT parts to Schaeffler in 2013 with a continuously improving quality and delivery performance. GKN maintains very close cooperation with Schaeffler from the earliest concept stage to the production phase, via technology days, engineering meetings and regular mutual visits.

“We are honoured to have received this prestigious award for the first time,” stated Richard Lee, GKN Sinter Metals Sales Manager China. “This award is the result of an excellent partnership with our valued customer Schaeffler since 2006 and recognises Danyang’s technical strength and continued commitment.”

The Danyang facility was established in 2006 and supplies OEMs such as VW and SAIC and Tier 1 suppliers like Schaeffler, GETRAG and Tanhas with a wide range of Powder Metallurgy components. GKN Sinter Metals China has gained market share on a year-on-year basis and is now among the top five suppliers of the Chinese Automotive PM market.
