ZF considers acquisition of automotive supplier TRW

ZF, one of the top ten automotive suppliers in the world, is looking to further enhance its position with the acquisition of TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. ZF, headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, confirmed that it was in the preliminary stage of discussing a possible acquisition for the American automotive supplier, however at this state it stated that there can be no assurance that any transaction will be agreed.
TRW Automotive recorded 2013 sales of $17.4 billion, operates in 24 countries and employs approximately 65,000 people worldwide. The company’s products include integrated vehicle control and driver assist systems, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, occupant safety systems (seat belts and airbags), electronics, engine components, fastening systems and aftermarket replacement parts and services.
ZF currently lists 122 production companies in 26 countries, employs 72,643 worldwide and in 2013 the group achieved a sales figure of €16.8 billion. The group’s product range comprises transmissions and steering systems as well as chassis components and complete axle systems and modules.
