Wohlers Associates predicts $6 billion market for Additive Manufacturing by 2017

Sales of Additive Manufacturing equipment and related services is said to have risen to $2.2 billion in 2012 and market researcher Wohler Associates based in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, is forecasting that this figure will rise to around $6 billion annually by 2017.

The investment at GE Aviation changes everything stated Terry Wohlers who has published an annual report tracking AM/3-D printing technology for the past 18 years. Wohlers states that, in terms of the production of metal powder Additive Manufacturing machines, Germany and other European companies have dominant market shares.

In terms of the number of such machines introduced the USA has the largest share, followed by Japan and Germany.
