The China Machine Powder Metallurgy Association (CMPMA) reports that production of PM machine parts surged by 62.4% in the first half of 2010 to 73,606 tonnes compared with the same period in 2009. The figure is based on the production returns of 46 Chinese PM producers.

The CMPMA reported a 59.6% increase in Q1 of 2010 when the PM industry reported a total production of 32,243 tonnes.

According to China’s Steel Association iron powder production in China reached a new record of 295,000 tonnes in 2009 of which 155,000 tonnes was the reduced iron powder grade and 137,000 tonnes water atomized iron and steel powders.

China also produced 495 tonnes of carbonyl iron powder and 1200 tonnes of electrolytic iron powder in 2009. The Association also reported that 8,200 tonnes of electrolytic copper powders and 8,700 tonnes of copper alloy powders were produced in China in 2009.
