SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus (SMP) will present its range of inductive components at this year’s PCIM, international trade fair for power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy and energy management taking place May 20 – 22 in Nuremberg, Germany. SMP’s product range includes low-loss inductive custom components based on in-house-developed powder composites.

SMP-chokes-diff.-sizes

SMP manufactures chokes from 36 mm to 300 mm

in diameter and a weight of 0.05 kg to 130 kg

The components’ sizes range from 36 mm to 300 mm diameter and their weight from 0.05 kg to 130 kg. Depending on their application, they are designed either as single-conductor chokes for high-current applications, individual chokes, choke modules or LC filters. SMP’s inductive components are used in power electronics, drive technology, wind turbines and inverters for photovoltaic installations as well as in medical engineering and railway engineering.

The components’ cores consist of powder composites with low magnetostriction, which SMP engineers individually for each application.  SMP’s inductive components feature low loss, good EMC characteristics and high energy storage capacity in a compact, space-saving design.

With their low eddy current and hysteresis losses, the materials contribute to the components efficiency. The components can be produced for frequencies of up to 200 kHz and currents of up to 1000 amperes. Depending on the application, degrees of protection from IP00 to IP66 are available, states the company.
