Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd., Japan, has announced the completion of a merger by absorption with Hitachi Powdered Metals Co., Ltd. (HPM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical. The move will see HPM merged into Hitachi Chemical and its current manufacture of Powder Metallurgy products and chemical products be consolidated under Hitachi Chemical.

In addition to the sales and business planning functions already centralised under Hitachi Chemical management, the companies agreed that the remainder of HPM’s operations be brought under single, central management.

Hitachi Powdered Metals became a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical in 2008. In 2010 HPM’s sales and business planning functions were transferred to Hitachi Chemical, creating a closer collaborative relationship between the two companies.

Hitachi Chemical have stated that it “will continue to work toward further reinforcing and expanding the powder metal product business (including chemical products) through the supply of products in accordance with customer needs.”
