Porvair Filtration Group, headquartered in Fareham, Hampshire, UK, has completed the commissioning of a fully integrated Powder Metallurgy production cell at its Caribou, Maine, USA, facility to produce its sintered powder products. The equipment is said to deliver increased capacity, reduced lead time and repeatable product quality.

The production cell integrates metal powder delivery, compaction, quality inspection, statistical process control and parts handling in a single automated cell. The integrated servo-electric press technology enables precision control of dimensional, density, flow and filtration parameters compared with commonly used hydraulic presses.

Porvair produces a range of sintered metal filters under its Sinterflo P brand. Primarily produced in 316L grade for use in temperatures up to 540ºC, depending on process conditions, and offering resistance to most chemicals, Sinterflo P media can also be produced in other grades of stainless steel and alloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy and Monel. Sinterflo P powder media can be manufactured in both disc format or in cylinder format.

A video demonstration of the cell is available here on the company’s LinkedIn.
