PM production holds up in Japan

The Japan Powder Metallurgy Association (JPMA) has reported that there was very little change in structural PM part and PM self lubricating bearing production in Japan in 2014, with the combined volume reaching 99,781 tonnes, compared to 99,203 tonnes in 2013. Structural PM part production accounted for 90,838 tonnes, 6,740 tonnes was for PM self lubricating bearings, an increase of 7.2%, and the rest ‘other’ PM products.
According to the JPMA the sales value for all PM products increased by 5.6% over the year to reach Yen 163,340 million. 92.7% of structural PM parts production went to the automotive sector, compared with 62.3% of PM bearings produced for the same sector.
