A comprehensive PM exhibition

The international PM community gathered in Shanghai to exhibit and discuss technologies, products, and advances in this growing industry. Over 100 exhibitors were present as several thousands of visitors attended the two-day show.

Chinese companies were able to promote new equipment and powders, while the international companies, including some of Europe and America’s leading players, also attracted attention from local businesses and visitors alike. China, Germany, America, India, Japan, Sweden, France, Britain and Switzerland were all represented, reflecting PM’s global reach.

There were around 100 companies in the

exhibition

Every aspect of the PM process, from atomising and tooling to pressing and sintering, was represented in the exhibition. Metal injection moulding materials and equipment were also on display from companies such as Arburg, BASF, and Only.G.

There was no shortage of powder suppliers as iron, aluminium, copper, nickel, tungsten, titanium, cobalt, and high speed steel producers were all present. Sample powders and demonstrations were available, helping visitors understand and relate to new developments in the industry. Some Chinese companies ran mixing, sorting or testing machines throughout the day and attracted large crowds.

Conference sessions at the 2012 Shanghai PM Expo

A well attended conference saw more than 40 papers presentment. Prof. Huang Baiyun, a leading powder metallurgy expert in China, hosted the opening ceremony and welcomed participants.

Keynote presentations included:

  • The development of China’s PM industry

    Wang Chen
  • The Development of PM Technology

    Prof. Xiong Xiang
  • An update on the Development of China’s Auto Industry

    Li Jun
  • The relationship between the auto industry and PM

    Ni Guancao
  • The foundation development and prospect of Alliance

    Han Wei
  • Developments in China’s iron & steel powder industry

    Yuan Yong
  • Developments in China’s PM components industry

    Cao Yang

Market leaders also used this forum to shed light on their specific role in the PM world and new capabilities for their area of the market.

The expo offered both Chinese and foreign suppliers a chance to understand China’s PM market more fully. With the Chinese PM market shipping close to 200,000 Tons a year, it is vital that foreign companies understand the Chinese domestic market. The 2012 Shanghai International Powder Metallurgy Industry Exhibition & Conference was a viewed by participants as a success and the organisers are looking forward to the third consecutive annual conference in 2013.
