During the month of September 2021, MTC Powder Solutions (MTC PS), Surahammar, Sweden, recorded its largest ever order intake in a single month for Powder Metallurgy Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) components. The record followed on the back of a series of new investments designed to increase production capacity in the Surahammar facility, part of the company’s expansion strategy designed to meet customer demands.

“This level of order volume in a single month, which is almost the same level as we would have seen in a whole year a few years ago, is a significant milestone for us,” stated Magnus Nyström, Managing Director. “However, more importantly, it provides confirmation that we have taken the right investment choices and will continue to do so in the future.”

The increased order volumes have been reported across all markets of interest. MTC PS believes that this signals a key sign for a positive future for the company continuing the growth of near-net shape HIP components (NNS HIP), as well as acting as a broader sign of industry’s return to form after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jimmy Bovin, Global Product Manager, added, “We see a clear tendency that more and more critical metallic components are converted from conventional manufacturing technologies such as forging and casting to PM HIP which have created a stronger demand and a positive order book which is already expanding rapidly into 2022.“
