MPIF reports on most successful MIM2016 conference to date

March 15, 2016

The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) has reported that it was a record setting year for its annual Metal Injection Moulding conference, with over 160 delegates in attendance at MIM2016 held in Irvine, California, USA, March 7-9. The conference attracted delegates representing nearly 100 companies from twelve countries.

A Powder Injection Molding Tutorial was held prior to the main MIM2016 meeting and attracted over 45 attendees. The course, presented by Professor Randall German, provided a basis for determining options, uses, properties, applications, and opportunities for cost-effective PIM manufacturing.

Thirty-one companies showcased their products and services during the tabletop exhibition that followed Tuesday’s presentations.

During the conference, delegates enjoyed the California sunshine and heard about some of the most recent advancements in the Metal Injection Moulding industry. Keynote Presenter Jean-Claude Bihr, Alliance MIM, France, opened the conference by discussing the environmental and cost impacts of manufacturing technologies, as well as MIM’s role in green technology.

Attendees had the unique opportunity to attend a tour and reception at a nearby MIM equipment manufacturer, Arburg Technology Center (ATC) California, where they witnessed the moulding process.

Next year’s event is scheduled to take place in Orlando, Florida, February 27–March 1, 2017.
