Metal powder shipments in negative territory in Japan
November 5, 2013
The Japan Powder Metallurgy Association published its most recent PM sales and powder shipment statistics in the October 2013 issue of its newsletter JPMA News. Shipments of PM grade iron and steel powders fell by 6.5% to 71,043 tonnes in the first eight months of 2013. This is despite the more positive financial results from some of Japan’s largest PM producers.
Copper powder shipments to August were also in negative territory, down 8.1% to 3,088 tonnes compared with the same period in 2012. The JPMA also reported that sales of PM parts in the first eight months fell by 7.3% to Yen 69,676 billion compared with the same period in 2012.
