Ipsen, Cherry Valley, Illinois, USA, has announced several strategic organisational changes aimed at strengthening its position as a leading global provider of integrated heat treatment solutions. As part of the planned changes, Geoffrey Somary, current CEO of Ipsen USA and COO of Ipsen Group, will leave his USA position and focus solely on his position at the head of the group.

“We are in an exciting period of growth for Ipsen, which has been built on both innovation and exceeding customer expectations,” commented Somary. “The Ipsen Group focus ensures that we continue to strengthen Ipsen performance in all global markets, delivering the same quality and performance anywhere in the world.”

Jake Hamid will also leave his position as COO of Ipsen USA, moving into the position of Director of Global Product Development and Manufacturing for Ipsen Group, while Patrick McKenna will be promoted to President & CEO of Ipsen USA, taking responsibility for all US entity functions including Sales, Engineering, Operations, Service, Finance and Human Resources.

Speaking on his new role, McKenna commented, “My focus from day one will be on delivering the highest quality products and services to our customers and ensuring that the established Ipsen performance culture continues far into the future.”

According to Ipsen, McKenna has both undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering and has served on the Metal Treating Institute’s Board of Directors for ten years, including as President in 2016. He began work at Ipsen as a Mechanical Engineer for four years, before leaving to co-found a successful commercial heat treating and brazing company, in which he divested his interest in 2015 before returning to Ipsen as Vice President of Sales.

Other promotions include Pete Kerbel to Vice President of Sales, Ipsen USA. Kerbel will take responsibility for sales of new equipment, retrofits and parts. Most recently, he was employed as the company’s Director of Aftermarket Sales, which totals nearly 50% of annual sales for Ipsen USA.
