GTP tungsten confirmed conflict free

February 18, 2014

Following an audit conducted in December 2013, the audit committee of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) has confirmed that Global Tungsten & Powders (GTP), a division of the Plansee Group, does not process any tungsten sourced from conflict region. GTP is the world’s first tungsten producer to receive this certificate.

Tungsten Ore Sustainability is a fixed purchasing policy commitment throughout the Plansee Group. Global Tungsten & Powders ensures that it does not use any raw materials from socially, ethically or ecologically questionable sources.

GTP is the Plansee Group’s main tungsten supplier. The audit conducted as part of the Conflict-Free Smelter Program (CFS), a joint undertaking promoted by the EICC and GeSI, is a voluntary obligation adopted by GTP. For Plansee’s customers, the certificate provides independent proof that the Plansee Group procures its tungsten from reliable and responsible sources.
