GKN Sinter Metals has announced that it was one of 16 companies, selected from over 1,250 suppliers, to receive the Schaeffler Group’s 2012 Supplier of the Year award.

The award honours the best global suppliers based on excellence in quality, reliability, competitive cost structures, service, innovation and global presence. The award was presented at Schaeffler’s supplier conference held at their headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

“GKN is excited to be included in this prestigious group. This award is a clear testimonial that we are executing well on our mission to gain the acknowledgement, trust and satisfaction of our customers and that our leading technology is more and more recognized via the products we deliver to our customers,” stated Peter Mölgg, President European & Asia Pacific Operations.

GKN Sinter Metals supplies the Schaeffler Group with products ranging from engine and transmission products, such as VVT components, manufactured via Powder Metallurgy and Metal Injection Moulding processes. GKN globally supplies the Schaeffler Group from plants in Germany, China, Italy, and Brazil.

Gerhard Knoll, Senior Buyer of the Schaeffler Group, stated, “GKN is not only an important customer for the Schaeffler Group, but is also one of the most important suppliers of powder metallurgy parts. For more than 15 years, we have received high precision, ready-for-assembly components for engine and transmission applications from GKN. The global presence, the unconditional customer orientation, and their reaction to crisis makes GKN our first-choice supplier. Particularly, the performance of the European plants in Radevormwald (Germany), Bad Brückenau (Germany) and Bruneck (Italy) made the decision easy to award GKN Sinter Metals with the Schaeffler Group ‘Supplier of the Year 2012’ Award today.”
