The Investment Award is presented to companies that demonstrate belief in the South Tyrol region of Italy, helping to strengthen the local economy and make the region more competitive through investment. The management team at GKN Sinter Metals in Bruneck has been recognised for setting new standards in innovation, productivity and return on investment.

Helga Thaler Ausserhofer, President of the Business Location Südtirol (BLS), stated, “GKN Sinter Metals is generating employment in the greater Bruneck area, offers excellent training opportunities for employees and strengthens the local economy through strong direct and indirect links with companies in the valley.”

Gottfried Rier, Vice President of Operations Europe, Peter Mölgg, President of the European & Asia Pacific Operations and Chairman at Bruneck, and plant manager Nikolaus Bachmann accepted the prize.

“We are extremely proud of this award because it recognizes the exceptional investment that GKN Sinter Metals has made in Bruneck to become a global industry leader. These investments ensure growth, encourage social responsibility and help to create sustainable jobs. This award also honours the whole GKN group and demonstrates GKN’s belief in the Bruneck site,” stated Bachmann.

There were nearly 70 applications for the 2013 South Tyrol economy awards. The awards first took place 2011 and are presented every two years.
