Fachmetall presents awards to R. Biemmetech and X-Pore

Fachmetall GmbH, Radevormwald, Germany, a metallurgical laboratory specialising in Powder Metallurgy and wrought materials, has announced the winners of its annual Fachmetall Awards. This year’s QM Context Award was presented to R. Biemmetech srl, based in Fano, Italy, and the PM Qualification Award was given to X-Pore bv in Helmond, The Netherlands.

R. Biemmetech srl, based in Fano, Italy, received the Fachmetall QM Context Award for outstanding efforts in enhancing its quality management procedures. R. Biemmetech is a technologically oriented company in the sintered metal industry specialising in precision gears and structural parts, stainless steel and bronze PM parts, including the design and manufacture of the tooling. Its products are used in the automotive industry and in many other technically demanding applications.
The ten year old PM plant established a sound PM technology base with the support of Fachmetall and took appropriate action to improve the quality of their products. Ongoing efforts are being made to maintain and continuously improve the product quality. Holger Davin of Fachmetall and Dr Georg Schlieper presented the prize to Massimiliano Rovinelli, the plant manager.

For the first time, this year’s Fachmetall PM Qualification Award was presented to a company with a main focus outside the metals sector. X-Pore bv in Helmond, The Netherlands, develops porous ceramic membranes for water treatment and other technical applications.
A new project has been started at X-Pore that aims to combine porous metal filters with a ceramic membrane surface structure. Dr Rinse A Terpstra, Director of the family enterprise, gave a presentation outlining this and a number of other developments at X-Pore before receiving the prize.
