The International VDI Transmission-Congress “Drivetrain for Vehicles” becomes “Dritev”

The world of transmission has changed. With the electrification of the powertrain, the transmission can only be developed under overall system aspects. The 5th International VDI Congress “Drivetrain for Vehicles” will take place in Bonn on 27 – 28 June 2018. For this occasion, the new name “Dritev” („DRIvetrain Transmission Electrification in Vehicles“) has been established.

Increased CO2 discussions, sustainable mobility and electrified drives: The automotive transmission world is changing. Why the understanding of the transmission changes, how it is to be understood as part of the overall powertrain and why cross-component know-how becomes more and more important are the subjects of the “Dritev” in Bonn. Attendees can expect more than 1,500 developers, around 100 international exhibitors and 80 specialist lectures on one of the world’s largest networking platforms for powertrain and transmission development. Thus, “Dritev” seamlessly connects to the long-standing tradition of the VDI Congress “Drivetrain for Vehicles”.

At the heart of the event is its selected technical program, which reflects the current challenges and developments in the transmission world. The program includes subjects such as the transmission topology for electrified powertrains and current concepts for automatic transmissions and e-axes. In these, the individual components motor, axle and gear are integrated in one element.

More than 100 national and international companies present innovative solutions at the accompanying trade exhibition. The exhibition has become the central marketplace of the industry. Here, participants will get an overview of the most important suppliers in the development, simulation and production of transmissions and transmission components.

Major topics are:

  • Transmission topology for e-drivetrains
  • E-axes
  • Drivetrain – Optimization of its components
  • Hybrid modules
  • CVT – Innovative concepts of continously variable transmissions
  • Current developments of automatic- and dual-clutch transmissions systems

The two parallel conferencesTransmissions in Mobile Maschines” and “EDrive” also make the “Dritev” a meeting place for adjacent industries. Other highlights include the workshop on “Couplings for electrified and hybrid drive system solutions“.

At the 5th International Conference “Gearboxes in Mobile Work Machines“, solutions for the reduction of fuel consumption and CO₂, electric drives, system engineering and current transmission concepts for agricultural, construction and forestry machines are on the agenda. The “EDrive” focuses on the increasing electrification in the powertrain and the key role of components from the electronics, semiconductor, software and electric motors sector. Congress participants can also gain an overview of current products and services in this field in the special exhibition “EDrive” and expand their network.

The event will be simultaneously translated into English.
