Europe sees continuing improvement in vehicle sales and production

Light vehicle production in Europe was up by 2% to 6.411 million units in the first 4 months of 2016 following a strong performance in April which saw production increase by 7% to 1.669 million units.
New car registrations to April 2016 were also up at 5.252 million units – an increase of 8.3% over the corresponding period in 2015. Italy (+18.6%), Poland (+15.8%), and Spain (+10.3%) recorded double digit sales growth, and the larger car markets in Germany (+5.6%), France (+7.9%) and the United Kingdom (+4.4%) also gained.
Turkey saw a 4.2% reduction in sales to 251, 236 units in the first 4 months, and Russia continued its downward slide with sales decreasing by 15% in the period.
