EPMA’s Introduction to Functional Materials booklet now available for free download

May 11, 2021

The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) has announced that ‘Introduction to Functional Materials’, a new fifty-page booklet in its ‘Intro to…’ series, is now available for free download via the organisation’s website.

‘Introduction to Functional Materials’, borne of a large collaboration inside and outside the EPMA’s EuroFM Sectoral Group, is a detailed snapshot of the world of Functional Materials, a sector including a wide range of Powder Metallurgy materials and technologies: soft and hard magnets, biomaterials, high-temperature resistant alloys, thermoelectric materials, functionally porous, hard materials, friction hydrogen storage materials, and many others.

In many cases, PM is the process of election for manufacturing, and sometimes the only viable process, that opened up the possibility of producing such materials.

The EPMA has also announced a launch webinar, a free event that will take place on MS Teams on May 20, 2021, 11:00–12:00 CET. During the webinar, Sebastian Hein, from Fraunhofer IFAM Bremen, co-chair of the EuroFM group, and Martin Bram, Forschungszentrum Jülich, the main collaborator for the booklet, will give a short introduction on the work done.

After a short presentation by Bruno Vicenzi, technical manager of EPMA, about the activities of the association in the field via the EuroFM group, most of the time will be dedicated to the questions and answers segment with a large segment of the booklet collaborators.

Registration for the launch is required by May 19.
