Electric vehicles sales rise in Europe
September 27, 2011
Electric vehicle (EV) sales in the 15 EU countries have increased tenfold in the first 6 months of 2011 compared with the same period in 2010 with 5,222 units sold, according to a report from JATO Dynamics.
All the European countries surveyed by JATO offer subsidies ranging from €380 in Germany to €20,588 in Denmark, but the subsidies are not thought to have contributed significantly to boosting EV sales.
Automotive News Europe reported that Germany is the leading European market for EV with just over 1000 units sold, followed by France (953 units), Norway (850 units), and the UK (599 units).
