August 29, 2012
China’s Ministry of Commerce has announced further rare earth export quotas for this year, bringing the full-year export quota to 30,996 tons.
The latest quota includes 8,537 tonnes of light rare earth metals and 1,233 tonnes of medium and heavy rare earth metals, increasing the full-year export quota by some 2.7% from last year.
In December 2011 the ministry granted its first batch of 2012 export quotas totalling 10,546 tonnes for 11 companies. The second quota will be granted to 24 companies, including the Baogang Group, the country’s largest light rare earth producer, and the China Minmetals Corporation reports Xinhua.
