Borg-Warner to close Cortlandville Powder Metallurgy plant

BorgWarner Inc. has announced that its Cortlandville powder metallurgy plant, NY, USA, will close over the next 12 to 18 months with the loss of 158 jobs.
The plant, which opened in 2001, provides powder metal components for engine timing systems and transfer cases for light vehicle applications. It is reported that the closure follows unsuccessful efforts to find a buyer for the plant.
BorgWarner Inc., headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, manufactures highly engineered components and systems for powertrain applications worldwide. It currently operates manufacturing and technical facilities in 60 locations in 19 countries. Customers include VW/Audi, Ford, Toyota, Renault/Nissan, General Motors, Hyundai/Kia, Daimler, Chrysler, Fiat, BMW, Honda, John Deere, PSA, and MAN.
