Bodycote opens new heat treatment facility in USA

Bodycote plc, headquartered in Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK, has opened a new heat treatment facility in Elgin, Illinois, USA. The new Bodycote facility, one of over 70 in North America, is now fully operational and replaces the company’s ageing facility in Melrose Park, Illinois.

Along with providing all of the processes previously offered at the Melrose Park location, the Elgin facility also offers nitriding; nitrocarburising; low-pressure carburising (LPC) and Corr-I-Dur (a proprietary thermochemical treatment) solutions.

Bodycote explains that the new facility is part of an ongoing strategy to provide the best possible capabilities and geographical network, allowing the company to better serve customers from the agricultural, mining, construction, automotive and various other manufacturing supply chains in the Upper Midwest region.

Stephen Harris, Bodycote Group Chief Executive, commented, “We’re very pleased to announce the opening of the new facility in Elgin, Illinois. The purpose-built facility demonstrates Bodycote’s commitment to serving the Midwest and helps us to shape the future of both our company and the industry.”

There will be an an official opening event when coronavirus (COVID-19) related restrictions are lifted, added the company.
