The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) has announced that Arthur (Bud) Jones, of Symmco, Inc., Sykesville, Pennsylvania, has been appointed President of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology. Jones succeeds Jeff Hamilton of American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc (AAM) – Powertrain, who had completed two terms.
Jones, who has been working in the Powder Metallurgy industry for over 30 years, has been employed as Engineering Manager at Symmco since 2007. He holds two associate degrees from Pennsylvania State University in Material Engineering Technologies and Mechanical Engineering Technologies. He has over fifteen years’ experience in press set-up and operation and four years’ experience in quality assurance.
The Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT) merges the academic and corporate PM worlds together with a joint goal to promote PM industry progress. It was created in the early 1980’s as an indirect result of a United States Department of Commerce effort to establish a series of cooperative technology programs involving several specific technologies. Each was selected by the government as being representative of growth technologies capable of enhancing the productivity of America’s manufacturing community.
