Arlan Clayton receives MPIF lifetime achievement award

Arlan J. Clayton was the first recipient of MPIF’s (Metal Powder Industries Federation, USA) Kempton H. Roll PM Lifetime Achievement Award. Clayton’s career spanned four decades in the PM and MIM industries before he retired as president of FloMet LLC in 2006. He was chairman of the MPIF’s Industry Development Board, president of the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association, and president of the Metal Powder Industries Federation, as well as president of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology. In 1999 he donated $1 million to the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT), establishing the Clayton Family Fund to provide annual grants for research and scholarships. In 1991 he was presented with the MPIF Distinguished Service to PM award.
The Kempton H. Roll PM Lifetime Achievement Award was established by the MPIF Board of Governors to recognise individuals with outstanding accomplishments and achievements who have devoted their careers and a lifetime of involvement to the field of PM and related technologies. It honours the contributions of Kempton H. Roll, whose vision led to the establishment of MPIF. Roll is scheduled to be on hand to participate in the presentation of the award.
Clayton received the award on June 9 at the Opening General Session of the 2008 World Congress on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials, June 8–12, in Washington, D.C.
