The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), University of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK, will hold its Lightweighting Conference: Winning the Weight Race, from May 15–16, 2019. The two-day event will be hosted at the AMRC Factory 2050 in Sheffield, and is expected to feature a number of presentations and guided tours showcasing the latest in lightweighting technology.

Attendees will reportedly have the opportunity to hear from policy makers, industry leaders and manufacturing researchers who will provide insights into the future of mobility through presentations and real-world technology demonstrators: from machining thin wall aerostructures and the Additive Manufacturing of satellite components, through to the design of joints containing dissimilar materials and more.

Sectors and technologies covered by the conference programme will include:

  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Aerospace
  • Automotive
  • Construction
  • Rail
  • Space
  • Composites manufacturing
  • Machining
  • Casting,
  • High-strength & lightweight metals
  • Battery technology

Guided tours will be given to showcase the AMRC’s current lightweighting abilities at a number of its facilities. Further information on the conference programme and registration details are available via the AMRC website.
