AMRC Forum to address new opportunities and challenges for the automotive sector

July 26, 2017

The University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), UK, will hold a forum titled ‘Opportunities and challenges in the automotive sector’ on September 28, 2017, at the AMRC Knowledge Transfer Centre in Catcliffe, South Yorkshire, UK.

The event will host speakers from Ricardo, Jaguar Land Rover, Tinsley Bridge, SW Machines and the AMRC. The technological challenges and new opportunities to be discussed during the one-day event will include:

  • Lightweighting
  • The increase in electric vehicles and the reduction in the demand for internal combustion engines
  • The development of connected autonomous vehicles (self-driving cars)
  • Digital manufacturing

According to the AMRC, these developments will have significant implications for manufacturing technologies and the supply chain. The purpose of the forum will be to highlight some of the ways in which both small and large automotive companies have embraced new technology to exploit some of the new opportunities available to the industry.

Attendees are invited to register for the event via the link below. As well as admission to the event, attendees will receive the AMRC Quarterly Journal and regular event updates.
