Ametek Specialty Metal Products (SMP), a division of Ametek, Inc., has announced the appointment of Michael Marucci as its Vice President Sales and Marketing for Powders. The division, which includes Reading Alloys, Hamilton Precision Metals, Superior Tube, Fine Tubes, SMP Eighty Four and SMP Wallingford, manufactures high purity alloy powders and master alloys, as well as precision metal tubes, strip and foil at six manufacturing facilities in the USA and UK, with sales offices across the globe.

In his new role with the company, Marucci will be responsible for establishing the strategy, execution and implementation of all sales and marketing activities related to titanium master alloys, titanium powders and water and gas atomised powders. Prior to joining Ametek, he held a number of positions with GKN Hoeganaes, beginning as a Research Engineer in 2001 and culminating in his position as Vice President, Commercial and Strategy, from November 2017 until late 2018.

Marucci holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Drexel University. Since October 2017, he has been President of the Association for Metal Additive Manufacturing (AMAM), and he is a long-term member of ASM International and the APMI Technology Board & Conference Program Committee.

In January 2013, he was recognised as a GKN Engineering Fellow for Powder Metallurgy, and in September 2017 he was the recipient of the ASM Silver Medal for co-developing and commercially launching several products for Powder Metallurgy, as well as his role in building the technology team within GKN Powder Metallurgy.

In the US, Ametek also announced the appointment of Regional Sales Managers Ryan Cicciu and Andrew Blankemeier. Based in Boston, USA, Cicciu will identify and develop new customers and product applications for the division’s tube, strip and powder products, covering the New England region. Based in Minneapolis, Blankemeier will cover the North Central region with a focus on the division’s powder, tube and strip products for medical and industrial applications.

The company also announced Pierpaolo Pigliacelli as its new Regional Sales Manager, Western Europe. Based near Paris, Pigliacelli is responsible for sales and business development in France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal, representing the SMP Division across the board. He joins SMP from Acal BFi, where he worked as a Field Sales Engineer in its Metals division, focusing on niche applications such as military, nuclear, medical, energy, chemical and aerospace.

In China, Michael Zhu has been appointed as Regional Sales Manager for SMP. Working from the AMETEK Shanghai office, Zhu will be responsible for sales and business development across the SMP portfolio throughout China. Zhu’s previous positions include Sales Manager at H.C.
