Alloys for Additive Manufacturing Symposium 2023 to take place in Madrid

December 6, 2022

The IMDEA Materials Institute, one of the seven Madrid Institutes for Advanced Studies (IMDEA), has announced that the Alloys for Additive Manufacturing Symposium (AAMS) 2023 will take place September 27-29 at the Puerta de Toledo Campus at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain.

This event will cover materials aspects of metal AM, including new and tailored alloys; AM methods, including multi-material approached and hybrid processes; microstructure and property design via AM; and porous structures, lattices and meta-materials.

All scientific issues around the Additive Manufacturing of metals, alloys and composites which include a metallic phase, fall under the scope of the conference. This includes experimental and theoretical research on powder making, powder characterisation and degradation during AM processing, in-process materials behaviour, post-processing and the resulting materials structural or functional properties. In particular, contributions concerning the optimisation of existing alloys for AM processes and the design of new, tailor-made alloys, are encouraged.

The event follows on from the successful earlier additions at the Max Planck Institute (Düsseldorf, Germany) in 2016; at the EMPA (Dubendorf, Switzerland) in 2017, at the University of Sheffield (UK) in 2018; at the Chalmers University of Technology (Gotheborg, Sweden) in 2019; and at the Universität der Bundeswehr (Munich, Germany) in 2021.
