Höganäs AB will showcase its range of sustainable metal powder solutions for future powertrains at CTI Symposium and Transmission Expo, to be held December 4-7, 2017, Berlin, Germany.

The symposium and expo is the largest transmission event globally, attracting participants from all of the major automobile and transmission manufacturers as well as suppliers from all over the world.

Höganäs states that the PM solutions it will exhibit help to make the production of drivetrains more cost-effective, innovative and sustainable while achieving near net shape manufacturing, high precision and reliability and weight savings.

Visitors to Höganäs’s stand (K13) will have the opportunity to view and discuss powder metal transmission gear solutions and high power density electrical solutions.

Automotive teardown: Dismantling of three modern vehicles to discover current and potential use for PM

In order to establish a better understanding of the use of Powder Metallurgy components in modern automobiles, a team of engineers from Höganäs AB stripped back three new vehicles to their component parts.

As well as discovering the exact content of PM in each vehicle, the team were able to identify numerous components that could easily be converted to PM. Anders Flodin, Application Development Manager at Höganäs AB, reports on the findings of the project.
